The Parish Pastoral Council of St. Joseph University Parish, established for the purpose of providing a unifying and coordinated structure of parish administration, shares responsibility with the pastor for the spiritual, educational, social, service, and administrative ministry to the parish community. The Council is assisted in its duties by parish commissions and committees, which are categorized within five areas of ministry. The Council’s functions are to:
The Parish Council is comprised of fifteen voting members. Of the membership, six are members-at-large, elected by parishioners to three-year terms.
The officers, elected annually by the Council, consist of the Chair, Vice-Chair, and Secretary. The Pastor is an ex-officio (non-voting) members of the Council.
Parishioners, who are at least 16 years of age, with an interest in serving as a member of the Parish Pastoral Council, should contact the President of the Council or the pastor to indicate their intention of being a candidate in the Parish Pastoral Council election. Council meetings, which are open to all parishioners, are held in the evening on the first Tuesday of each month throughout the year.
